Yong Peng Fishball, Melaka Raya

This shop is operating 24 hours. Everyday passed by this shop, but i don’t usually go. Last week, again, we don’t know what to eat, and don’t feel like eating rice, so finally we chose Yong Peng Fishball.

Newspapers cutting recommending this Yong Peng Fishball.

Variety of fresh yong tou foo for you to choose.

This is fish egg, which is seldom available at other yong too foo shop.
Dry hor fun always my preference. On top of the hor fun is minced meat. The portion of these hor fun is big. These are all the yong tou foo that we chose. It was really full because i took a lot yong tou foo as i don’t know the hor fun is quite big portion for me.

This is thier signature, yong peng fishball. The size is not too small, not too big, average. The taste is good, the meat is tender and a bit elastic. This is japanese tofu stuffed with fish meat, which i never try before. New thing for me. Hehe…This is fu chow fish ball, where the fishball inside is stuffed with meat. I love this, haha…because it is big and there is meat inside. Once you bite, you can feel two flavours.

The shop is located at No. 555, Melaka Raya, 75000 Melaka.

Pisang Goreng, Ujong Pasir

I would strongly recommend this pisang goreng, where located at opposite the junction going to Portuguese Settlement.

The “skin” is so crispy and not over fried. The banana is so sweet. You can dip it to the soya sauce (malay style sauce whereby the cili api has been chopped and put into the soya sauce). The soya sauce is quite spicy for those who can’t take spicy and hot. Anyway, it is ok if you don’t dip into the soya sauce because the pisang goreng is really yummy!!! This is the best pisang goreng i have tried so far and i can say that the pisang goreng here is the best in Melaka. With the cheap price, it is really worth for money!! 5 pieces for RM1. ^_^

Jonker 88, Jonker Walk

Yesterday night we went to Jonker Street having our dinner. Actually we always have no idea where and what to eat. Sigh…

We went to Jonker Desert 88, which is very famous among local and tourists. The cendol is really irresitable!!

Long queue, it is normal especially on weekend. Come at the noon or weekdays to avoid the crowd.

The interior and collections of antiques. This place also has a small maritime museum, as you can see a lot antiques salvages from the sea.

Now see what we ordered. My favourite, Nyonya Asam Laksa. I always order this everytime i come here. Although it is a bit oily, but i really can’t resist it. Everytime thinking to try others, but finally i always order this at the end. It is sour spicy. I just simply love the soup! Sourish…but not too spicy. I hope to be more spicy instead. The Nyonya Asam Laksa is RM3.50.

Hubby ordered this. Seafood meehoon soup. He can’t take spicy food. The soup is very tasty and sweet. This costs us RM4.00.This is our desert. Baba Cendol. The ice is so smooth. The gula melaka is so sweet, smooth and aromatic. Rich with coconut juice some more. This is highly recommended. Only RM1.70 per bowl.

Vegetarian food

When i wanna eat vegetarian food, Tian Ka Restaurant is always my choice. Unless they closed, only i find others. I’ve been there almost everyday when i was on vegetarian diet last month before CNY, except Sunday (they are closed). I have tried quite some of thier menu.

The restaurant is located at Melaka Raya. Easily spotted as the banner is big and in GREEN color. This is my favourite!! Honey Oat Fish Fillet rice. You can choose in spicy or not spicy. Of course i choose in spicy. Yea…it is sweet due to the honey. It is so yummy and crispy due to the oat. It is just nice. I really love this. But one thing is it is quite dry to eat with rice. So, you can order soup of the day or additional vegetables or else to add on. Normally i will order soup of the day, small bowl at RM0.50 and big bowl at RM1.00. The honey oat fish fillet rice at RM4.00.Next is this…for bittergourd lover!! Bittergourd fried rice. Yes! I love bittergourd!!! There are fried garlic slices and dry shrimps on top. Also, you can request to put egg if you want to. Of course, normal fried rice ingredients like green pea and carrot cube also included. The price is also RM4.00.Have you eat vegetarian nasi lemak before? Here it is, vegetarian nasi lemak. But it is only available on Saturday. All arranged nicely and in order. There are long beans, curry chicken, anchovies, peanuts, sliced cucumber and sambal. In fact, hubby ordered this. So i didn’t try. No comment. hahaha… Anyway, the price is at RM3.00.OoooOOoohhh….One of my favourite. Asam Fish rice. The taste is very nice and yummylicious!! The sauce is so tasty. The sauce is made by the chef himself and you can’t find at any other place. My aunt bought the paste from him before CNY. Surprisingly, they are willing to sell us the assam paste! The chef even taught us how to make the asam fish. Recommended. Price also at RM4.00.

The address:

No 317,Jalan Melaka 1, Taman Melaka Raya, 75000 Melaka.

Business hours: 8.00am to 5.00pm.

Bunga Raya Pork Porridge, Melaka Raya

We went to have pork porridge and mien fen gau yesterday night. This family has been selling pork porridge (thier signature) for so long, from small stall at Bunga Raya small lane to two combined shops now. There were so many people looking at us when we took photograph of this newspaper cutting placed on the wall. O_o This shop been recommended by newspaper before. The recipe has been retains for three generation. You can notice that no other staff other than her own family can be at the kitchen. Sometimes you have to wait about 20-30mins in order to get your pork porridge! I ordered pork porridge and he ordered mien fen gau. The mien fen gau. The taste is just so good, the minced pork is sweet. The mien fen gau slice is not too thick, not too thin. They use small machine to make the slices of mien fen gau. You can request in mee type if you want too. This is the pork porridge. Very very yummy and tasty. Honestly, this is the best porridge i have so far. The porridges i tried at other place are so tasteless (due to too much water). But this porridge just too yummy. I bet you will be coming back again and again! The pork internal organ. The liver. There are two pieces of it. Some people said the liver must eat first, as if too cooked, then the meat will be too hard. Not so nice already. This is the minced pork that i mentioned. Very very nice and sweet. I think there is secret recipe on it. haha…If you don’t take pork internal organs, you may request only put this minced pork. This is the sliced pork. Also two slices of it. *thumbs up*. Good.

This is the pork small intestine (credit to Ching, i don’t know what this called in english >_<”’). Also two of it.

From all of the pork internal organs, i love the minced pork so much. ^_^

How much is it? Here’s the price list…

Hasan Mee Goreng,Tengkera

I have been waiting today to go to Hasan mee goreng at Tengkera to have breakfast. I have seen the advertisement at a food advertisement magazine introducing this and my colleague (LML) told me the place always pack one her boyfriend likes to go there every weekend. So i said i must give it a try. Actually i don’t know exactly the place. I just know it is located at Jalan Tengkera roadside. After fetching hubby’s from Malim (he sent his car for repair), i drove him Tengkera. I drove slowly as i afraid i passby the stall without notice it. Then we noticed a lot of cars parking at the road side. Must be this place i guess. So i also parked my car at the roadside and we got down.

O_o really a lot of people. I looking for a seat and he went to queue up to take orders. We were surprised when we saw people queuing up. He almost said “go back” when he saw the long queue and no seat available. Luckily there was a group of people just went off. I quickly booked the table. Then he went to queue.

While waiting for him, then i noticed there are some men who taking orders table from table. Then this malay fella come to me and asked me for drinks. I ordered two teh tarik. Then hubby called me and saying the queue he was lining up is for order the fried egg, not the mee goreng. Then i quickly ordered from the “take order man“.

The “cuka” and soy sauce. I know what the soy sauce is for. But until now i still don’t know what the “cuka” is for. >_<”’

This is my drink, teh tarik, only RM0.60. *Thumbs up*. Good.

This is the fried egg as advertised, RM0.60. We saw every table also ordering this fried egg, so we also ordered. Actually the fried egg is supplement to the mee goreng and nasi lemak. The fried egg is nice. I really love it as it was not too cooked, about 85% cooked. The yellow part still melting, i love it. ^_^

This is thier signature, mee goreng (RM1.20). A very plain mee goreng with only beansprouts, sliced cucumber and sambal. Maybe i expect too much after seeing so many people and it is advertised. Its oily, maybe due to sambal’s oil. But the sambal is….NOT salty, but TOO salty. Other than that, the mee goreng taste is still categorised at average.

The nasi lemak, RM1.20. Plain and traditional type, with kangkung, anchovies, cucumber and sambal. Again, the nasi lemak is ok, but the sambal is too salty.

I would come back again, not for the mee goreng, but for the fried egg and nasi lemak!
